Amazonian Woman

by - April 04, 2015

There is a certain element of magic found in every piece of garment that allows it to tell a story. That's always my favorite part about dressing up. No matter which side of the bed I wake up on, I can choose an outfit to manipulate my mood and tell a different tale.  Role playing a chic-modern day warrior for example, on a day when you're going through the motions and feeling a bit defeated,  is always a good idea.

I imagine high on the list of must-haves for the 2015 Amazonian woman would be suede and fringe, you know right below leather (everything) and just above gladiator sandals. I had bought this top and the skirt separately with no intentions of pairing them together but during a wild toss of clothing from my closet these two just happen to fall side by side and the idea snapped! Come to think of it, it should have been an obvious pairing since I obsessed so much over Olivia Palermo's fringe + suede look from when she attended the Michael Kors show during NYFW 2015.

I absolutely love the cut of this top. Even more so I loved how the suede material looked against the woven detail of the skirt's waistband which reminded me much of the details from Balmain F/W14 collection. While fringes are often times viewed as playful, when paired with suede I believe it makes for a more fierce marriage, don't you think?

Its festival season, which means you're probably already channeling your inner warrior princess with fringes and suede. If not, what are you waiting for?!
